I believe that change is possible. Every individual has a right to aspire towards a greater sense of balance and peace within him or herself. In my work, I emphasize helping individuals to fulfill this by providing hope, insight, and opportunities for growth within the context of a collaborative, warm, and safe therapeutic environment.
With over 10 years of diverse experience, I am comfortable working with a wide variety of individuals and problems including depression, anxiety, identity, self-esteem, life changes, stress management, loss, and recovery. I also have specialized experience working with adult survivors of childhood trauma such as physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.
When working with an individual, my first emphasis is on developing a strong therapeutic relationship. I work hard to create a safe and nurturing environment for each person that comes to me by offering support, education, insight, and personal connection. Throughout the course of therapy, I not only focus on current issues, but also on past experiences. I believe that, often times, past events, relationships, and traumas can have a continuing effect on one’s current life in ways such as unhealthy relationship patterns, self-destructive behaviors, distressing feelings, and/or an overall sense of "feeling stuck". With the help of an experienced therapist, one can gain insight into these connections and begin a rewarding process of healing and personal growth.
