Are you feeling lonely, isolated, unhappy, or down? Do you struggle with low self-esteem, difficulty with making friends or being in relationships with significant others? I can help by giving you a place and space to "vent", offer a new perspective to consider, and improve your overall outlook on life. We will use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy to address the "why" behind depression as well as address changing old patterns of thinking and experiences to create more fulfilling ones.
Do you struggle with fears, worry, unexplained uneasiness, or specific medically-based anxiety? I work with my clients to identify the source of the anxiety, how it presents itself, and give tangible techniques to help decrease anxiety symptoms. I utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a primary treatment option for treating anxiety and weave in other therapy techniques and methods as appropriate. I specialize in medically-based anxiety for fears of medical procedures, needles, going to the doctor, and White Coat Hypertension (high blood pressure when going to the doctor). I do not provide Exposure Response Therapy in my practice to help with specific fears and will refer you to another therapist for a specific fear.
We all go through challenges with adjusting to new circumstances: going to college, getting a new job, having a baby, going through a divorce, or losing a loved one or pet, to name a few. A lot of the time, we can get through difficult (and exciting!) times with the support of friends or family. However, when we can't, it's time to seek help. I utilize practical solutions and tools to help clarify and address areas of concern so that you can have a better life as soon as possible. I offer short and longer-term therapy for adjustment issues.
