I have a background in addiction recovery, having spent several years working in inpatient drug and alcohol clinics. I offer a comprehensive treatment that integrates psychotherapy with recovery principles. I typically only work with those who are already in recovery. At assessment, we will determine your level of care needs, and if necessary provide a recommendation for in-patient or intensive out-patient treatment.
I use talk therapy to provide support with CBT and psychodynamic therapy for depression. No two people are alike, and depression is woven into a person's biography. Current life situations can often be a culprit (loss, separation, divorce, work related stress), or depression can be more of an in-born, long-term trait. I asses your situation, and will work with you to provide the best assistance and a measure of peace.
I have extensive experience i rehabilitation psychology and pain management. Talk therapy can help you to better adjust to life after an accident or chronic illness and the sadness, anger, and stress that come with them. Biofeedback and mind-body techniques are evidence-based techniques to help you manage chronic and acute pain.
Anxiety is very common in our modern world. It is a silent epidemic. Its is often frightening when it takes the form of panic attacks, and can be debilitating to your social and work functioning. With this problem, I like to use some very quick interventions, typically biofeedback with relaxation training and hypnosis, and other mind-body techniques, to give you relief at the start of our work together. Later, we an explore how the pattern of anxious thoughts and fears is rooted in your past, and work on ways to better respond to situations so that your mind and body can remain more calm in the face of stressors
I work with attachment disturbances for comprehensive repair. Over time, with a safe, psychotherapy environment, you can grow more aware of how past patterns influence you today, and work on new ways of being within your personal relationships, and repairing your relationship with yourself.
I work with patients with complex trauma and dissociative disorders, and PTSD. People seeking treatment for these issues are often confused and scared, and feel misunderstood by their family and friends. We work together to feel safe in the sessions, and let that circle of safety grow, over time, to include other environments and work to include others into the treatment when applicable.
