About

Traci Patterson

In this chaotic modern world, you may feel increasingly more anxious, worried, overwhelmed, or possibly depressed. Life may even feel unmanageable. You might find yourself trying to fill an internal void with external things, such as alcohol, drugs, food, sex, or relationships. Experiences from your past could leave you feeling stuck in your present. Change can be terrifying, and taking that first step may feel impossible.

I believe everyone has the capacity to achieve positive and lasting change. I became a therapist in Chicago to help others see their worth and take ownership of their lives. Despite what that non-stop loop of negative self-talk in your head may tell you, you are good enough just as you are. I think it is important for people to have a place where they can feel heard, be understood, and know that they are not alone.

I know how difficult it can be to take that first step, which is why I strive to offer a light-hearted and non-judgmental space where humor and laughter become a part of the healing process. I became a Registered Yoga Teacher after seeing the impact that mindfulness had on my own recovery process. Meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, and color breathing – just to name a few mindfulness techniques – can be used to manage overwhelming emotions, anxiety, and everyday stress.

Long-term recovery requires self-awareness, a strong support system, and a tool chest full of coping skills, and my goal is to provide clients with a foundation for all three. If you are ready to take that first step, or if you are already on your recovery path and want to continue moving forward, I can offer support.
